Carola Blanco Méndez has experience in different legal areas, especially related to banking matters, litigation, corporate governance, compliance, advice to construction and real estate companies, banks and investors, individuals and corporate entities, property brokers and other real estate service providers in the planning and legal execution of real estate projects for housing, tourism, commercial, offices, encompassing from the acquisition of the land, as well as their whole marketing process.
In addition, she has specialized in the drafting and review of a variety of contracts such as the constitution of easements, the purchase and sale of real estate and water use rights, construction contracts, incorporation and demerger of companies.
She has participated in important projects such as the approval of the Environmental Impact Study of the Mantoverde Development Project, owned by Mantos Copper, providing advice on community strategy and conflict management. She also participated in the organization of the Meeting of Holders of Series A and B Bonds issued by Sociedad Concesionaria Costanera Norte S.A., held on March 30, 2010. At this meeting, 100% Bondholders of both Series approved the amendment to the Issuance Agreement, by eliminating the current unconditional and irrevocable guarantee of Ambac Assurance Corporation ("AMBAC") and increasing the current cover interest rate of Series A and B Bonds by 0.21% per annum. The above was subject to the condition precedent that Sociedad Concesionaria Costanera Norte S.A., as issuer, AMBAC and the Inter-American Development Bank legally executed the necessary agreements to terminate the guarantee granted by AMBAC on the issuance under the Issuance Agreement, within a maximum period of 77 days from the date of the meeting.
Paola also participated in the coordination, negotiation and advice on the restructuring of (among others): (i) AquaChile's Syndicated Loan. (ii) AUTOMOTORES GILDEMEISTER S.A.’s Syndicated Loan;(iii) Cencosud S.A.’s bilateral credits
She is a lawyer from Universidad de Chile and a journalist from Universidad de Santiago. She has Diplomas in Science and Environment and in Rights of Indigenous People, Environment and Dialogue Processes and Implementation of the Consultation of Convention 169. She completed the Course Indigenous Peoples: Convention 169 and Public Policies. FLACSO, and the Course on Money Laundering, taught by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, in conjunction with the Financial Analysis Unit (UAF).
